At Paws and Stripes, our mission has always been clear: to provide life-changing support for Veterans and rescue dogs. Today, we take an important step forward with the launch of the Veterans’ Resiliency Fund — an initiative that ensures the sustainability of our programs, allowing us to continue offering critical mental health services, animal-assisted therapies, and our Veteran Service Dog program to those who need it most.
Why Resiliency?
Resiliency defines who we are. Every day, Veterans demonstrate it as they navigate the invisible wounds of trauma, PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Military Sexual Trauma, and other mental health challenges. Our rescue dogs also embody resilience, overcoming neglect or abandonment to become well-trained companions and service dogs that offer unwavering support. Healing is not linear, but it is a process rooted in strength and partnership — values reflected in this fund.
The Impact
The Veterans’ Resiliency Fund is about more than financial support; it’s about securing a future of hope. This fund allows us to continue providing:
· Mental Health Services: Trauma-informed care for Veterans’ and their loved ones, delivered by licensed clinicians.
· Companion Animal Program (CAP): Designed for Veterans and their loved ones, this program focuses on building basic obedience, enrichment, and fostering a deeper bond with their dogs through training and support.
· Veteran Service Dog Program: Veterans choose their potential service dog from a pool of carefully vetted shelter dogs. Together, they embark on a journey where the Veteran actively trains their dog to become a fully certified service dog, providing essential support for PTSD, mobility issues, and other challenges.
