Programs Built to Support

Veteran Service Dog Program

The Veteran Service Dog Program at Paws and Stripes pairs Veterans with rescue dogs to begin building a strong bond from the beginning of the service dog training process. Through personalized instruction, hands-on training, group classes, one-on-one support, mental health resources, and real-world practice, Veterans and their dogs develop trust, communication, and teamwork while building greater independence and confidence. Most Veteran-service dog teams complete the program and graduate within 18 to 24 months. This shared journey strengthens trust, communication, and teamwork while helping Veterans build greater independence and confidence.

Peer Support

Paws and Stripes Peer Support program provides Veterans and military service members with a welcoming community where they can connect with others who understand their military experiences, learn practical life skills, and feel less alone. Through life-skills activities, educational and recreational opportunities, peer connection sessions, and one-on-one support with a Certified Peer Support Worker, participants can build meaningful relationships and strengthen their sense of belonging.

Community Outreach

Through community outreach events, our team attends resource fairs and other gatherings focused on Veteran and military-connected mental health, where we share information, answer questions, and help individuals find meaningful support.

We provide QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) suicide prevention training to help community members recognize warning signs and connect individuals in crisis with professional support. Paws and Stripes also offers presentations on our programs to better connect the community with our services.

Connect with us today to learn more, invite us to your next community event, schedule a QPR training, or find support for yourself or someone you care about.
